  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glazing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Using a doughnut cutter, cut out doughnut shapes and carefully place them in the hot oil.
  6. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. While still warm, dip the doughnuts in powdered sugar for glazing.

Notes

  • For a chocolate glaze, mix cocoa powder into the powdered sugar and add enough milk to achieve desired consistency.
  • Try adding sprinkles on top of the glaze for extra fun!
