  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fresh blackberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together.
  3. In another large bowl, whisk together the sugar, buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the blackberries.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool before frosting.
