  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Stir in the softened butter.
  3. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the banana mixture, alternating with sour cream.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. For the frosting, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  8. Once the banana bread is completely cool, spread the cream cheese frosting on top.
